Finally! It's been so busy around here with sickness, parties & visitors that I haven't had anytime to announce that we now have 3 one-year-olds! Happy Birthday Babies!
Both sets of Grandparents flew out for the big occasion- Nana & Pa on Wednesday from South Carolina and Grandmom & Pop from Massachusetts on Friday.
Because Madison woke up sick and threw up on me Friday morning, we decided to put off cupcakes until the next day and basically just took it easy on their actual birthday. She was starting to feel better on Saturday, so in the afternoon, I put on their birthday t-shirts (Ryan wore JP's and I found matching ones on clearance for the girls. I was so happy the tradition could continue!) Along with "Happy Birthday" the kids loved their special cupcakes Grandmom made them :) (We had to laugh because she didn't think to follow the high altitude directions. Although they looked a little different, they tasted great!). Caitlin even dived in head first!
Sunday was the big party. We had an open house and over 70 of our friends, neighbors, and kids came by to help us celebrate surviving year 1. After lots of help getting ready, we were all set and had a great time. The kids were on their best behavior and did great with all the new faces. I think JP had the best time of all playing with all the kids in the backyard & alley. I had bought a bubble machine and jars of bubbles for all the kids to play with.
Today, the last of our company left and we will try and get back in the swing of things. We headed to the doctor for their one year appointment, so here's some updates on the trio:
Ryan:
weight: 24 lb 3 oz (75%)
height: 31.25 in (90%)
head circ: 18.75 in (80%)
Ryan is always on the go and loves to get into everything. We call him turbo as he races across the floor when he hears the dishwasher or fridge opening. He pulls himself up on everything and will walk along chairs and tables, but no steps on his own yet. He is a very smiley boy and such a big, loveable bear. People keep saying he is looking more and more like JP. He still doesn't have much hair, but its starting to come in.
Caitlin:
weight: 19 lb 5 oz (25%)
height: 29.75 in (75%)
head circ: 17 5/8 in (50%)
Caitlin is the socialite and she loves to perform. Her latest trick has been to pull herself to standing and try and stand on her own. She gets lots of claps whenever she does it and just eats it up. She is also the first to come over and crawl into my lap when I sit down. However, I still rank second to Daddy when he walks in the door. If we're not paying close enough attention, she'll quietly climb the stairs at any given opportunity- this one is sneaky!
Madison:
weight: 17 lb 14 oz (7%)
height: 28.75 in (45%)
head circ: (15%)
Maddi is my little peanut. She is the most intense & firery, but she also has the best laugh. We think she may have a few sensory issues that we will have to keep an eye on. It's almost as if she can get mad at a toy if it rubs her the wrong way or she will tug on her clothing sometimes like it is bothering her. Our pediatrician said it is common and we're hoping that she will grow out of it. I would say she is about 4-6 weeks developmentally behind the other 2, so maybe she just needs to catch up. Maddi finally started crawling a little over a week ago and its so fun to watch the little train of 3 babies roaming across the room.
