Eating Like The Big Kids

Yesterday, I let the trio use spoons for their cottage cheese. They were so proud of themselves and actually got some in their mouths! They've used them a couple of times before, but usually I just give them finger foods to avoid the additional mess. They're starting to really look like big kids now!

Fun at the Park

Today, we spent the afternoon at Denver Botanic Gardens & City Park Playground.

It was a free day at the Botanic Gardens & sooo crowded. We learned its probably not the best place to take the little ones because there are lots of sloping hills and not much room for them to run- although JP had fun rolling down the big hills laying down! With so many people it was hard to navigate the double stroller around. We also forgot a second stroller (never have done that before) so we had to carry, or attempt to carry, one kiddo around. Grateful that we hadn't spent any actual $$ to get in, we decided to hit City Park and let the kids run around the playground. Much more their style! Here's our day in pictures:

Game On!

JP started fall soccer. The kids on the team range from 6-8 years old, so Joe is one of the youngest. He is also one of only 3 boys & those girls are good! He's had two practices with Team Kimura & Saturday was his first game. Joe ended up taking him to game alone because we have now entered into a phase where if we attempt to take the trio we are just going to be chasing them around and not being able to watch any soccer. This way at least one person gets to see the game!

JP did great and even scored the first goal of the season for his team. I guess he kicked it from about halfway down the field and didn't even realize he got it in until everyone started cheering and running up to him. Joe said the expression on his face was priceless as he figured out what he did. Joe didn't get that captured, but took a lot of other great shots of the day.

The New Bike

Last week JP finally got a new bike after his was stolen. Joe found a great deal on Craigslist. The dad is into bikes and fixed it all up to sell. It was his son's but he had outgrown it. Joe said it was so cute because as they were leaving the boy who had been pretty quiet the whole time shouted out to JP and said "hey, that's a great bike" Joe said he looked sad to let it go.

JP is having to deal with letting things go more and more these days. Tonight it was his red wagon. The babies took their first spin in it tonight. It was nice to have something "small" to pull them all around in. It was a beautiful night and our alley was fun of kids. It's funny how much they all still love to ride in JP's yellow motorized Hummer. I don't want to be the one to break this to JP, but he will probably have to let this go soon too- he can barely fit in it!

On Monday, the babies and I started a gym class once a week for 45 minutes at a little place near us called BabyPower. I think they are going to love it. I don't think they knew what to make of it at first, but the teacher, Miss Rachel, did fun things like blow bubbles, dance and let them play in the gym. They all slept like champs when they got home! I'm a little nervous with the start of RSV season coming in another 1.5 months. They say we have to worry about it with preemies until after they are 2. I will talk to the doctor at their 18 month check up and see what he says about being able to keep them in the class through winter.

Other than that, things are good. JP is starting to bring home homework now so we'll have to fit that into our routine. He has his first soccer game on Saturday. The babies seem to be growing so quick learning new things everyday. Ryan is finally starting to get some hair & the girls hair is going crazy! They pull out any barrettes or bands I try to put in & it drives me nuts! So much for the neat and tidy look.

Both Ryan and Madison are getting to be pretty good little talkers. They are getting very good at saying words like more, thank you, bye bye as well as some animal and object names- dog, duck, ball. Caitlin talks the least right now, but she understands the most. I can tell her to go in the toy room, get a shoe and bring it back to me and she will. I told the doctor about this and he said this is her way of communicating. He actually said he was surprised how much the other 2 were talking. He said with multiples many times they have each other and have their own little sounds & language and don't always start using ours for awhile!
