A Trip to the Dentist

Today I took the trio to their first dentist appointment.  Joe was supposed to go with, but since he was knee deep in work I went solo.  They did great!  Madison had been to the office a couple of times with JP to get her chipped tooth looked at so she was ready to go.  The other two were a little hesitant, but both did great.  Best of all, no cavities.  Everyone's teeth are now shiny and clean.  We just have to work on flossing at home!  After the dentist I took them for a treat at the the bakery (I'm not sure the dentist would approve) and then over to Turtle Park to play for a bit.  I took tons of pictures that I just think are the cutest thing- they look so little in the big chairs!

Introducing the Potty

Last week was a long week for Mom.  Dad was out of town and I decided to try and attempt to potty train three kids at once.  I stocked up on m&ms, sticker charts and pulled out all our pottys (another triplet Mom had given me 3 more).  I learned very quickly that they are all individuals and all had a different ideas about the potty.  I have now decided that I am happy to have introduced it and will encourage them to sit on the potty whenever I can.  However, after days of pee being all over my house, I have to stop for awhile.  I think I will wait a bit and then focus on one child at a time.

Madison, sweet Maddi.  She just didn't get it.  The only time she got an m&m was after I put her on the potty after she had already started to go.  She still brags about that one m&m she received.

Caitlin is a stubborn one.  She just didn't want to use the potty.  The first day she held her pee until 5pm without an accident.  Poor thing!  She told me she didn't like the potty and it was hard on her bottom.   She was thrilled when I said she could go back to diapers. 

Ryan loved it at first.  He received so many m&ms and loved running around naked all day.  Unfortunately, once I actually put him in underwear he began to have accidents.  He did great the first day, but by the 3rd day he started to regress.  I could ask him if he wanted to sit on the potty and then he would wet his pants all over my  floor 2 seconds after telling me no.  I thought he showed the most interest and actually the him pick out some cars for prizes when he could stay dry all day.  He wants the cars so bad, but not bad enough to keep trying right now.  I really think he will be the first to get it....when he's ready.

Nonnie's 60th Birthday

Nonnie celebrated her 60th Birthday last week and a bunch of her old kiddos and families got together for a party.  It was amazing how big some of the kids are now- some aren't even kids anymore!  JP had a great time playing with Allison and some of his old friends from day care.  We don't know what we would have done without Nonnie all these years and are so glad that she's still such a big part of our lives!

Skiing with Pop

Last week, Grandmom and Pop flew out to watch the Longmont crew.  We took advantage of them being here and the boys (Joe, Pop & JP) made plans to go skiing.  It was a short week for JP anyway, so we allowed him to take Friday off of school to head up to Arapahoe Basin for the day.  JP spent the morning in a ski lesson.  Lucky for him it turned out to be a private lesson!  After lunch he hit the trails with Dad and Pop.  They said the weather was beautiful and it was a great day!

Snowy January

We finally got some some! Unlike most of the country, Denver is lacking in snowfall for the year. We welcomed the white stuff and have had fun playing in it too. Even though there's snow on the ground many of our days are still near 50 so its not too uncomfortable. The girls received great hat & mitten sets from Grandmom, so they're really ready to go!
