We just finished up our second week of swimming lessons for the summer.
JP did such a great job learning the butterfly, working on diving, backstroke and more. He even advanced to the highest level for next year. I am so proud of him and am finding it hard to believe that he wouldn't even put his head under water before last year.
It was the trio's first set of lessons this year. It was also the first class of any type that they have taken and I have not been apart of. I was willing to bet that one of them wouldn't participate & I was right, but who it was fooled me. Madison! Ryan (who I thought wouldn't go in) was actually the all-star! He loved his teacher Miss Claire and did great. Caitlin was much more timid, but I usually could get her to go in & participate. Madison was a different story. On week 1 when Caitlin was there, she would reluctantly go in and do about half the activities. By the second week when Caitlin was out due to stitches, she pretty much sat or laid on the top step. If I walked away, she would eventually start crying. At least she looked so cute in her swimming suit that I kept going through the pain day after day!

The Summer of Staples & Stitches
This summer has marked our first 2 experiences with injuries that required more than just the boo boo bear. I just have to laugh that we made it over 8 years without JP having to visit the ER and went 3 times within a few months.
On June 27th, Ryan tipped back on his chair at dinner & ended up in the emergency room with a few staples in his head. The hospital sent us home with a staple remover too since we would be in the mountains when it was time for them to come out. It took a bit, but Aunt Erin took them out & he was good as new!
Just about a month later on July 25th, Caitlin was playing with Ryan & Madison having a great time when she somehow got pulled in a corner of one of our walls. As soon as I saw the damage I knew it was back to the ER! Some stitches and a Dilly Bar later, she was on the road to recovery!
What was the 3rd time? It was actually the 1st. At the beginning of June Caitlin was playing with a princess crown & it fell apart. She decided it would be a good idea to stick some beads up her nose. That officially kicked off the summer of emergency room trip when Daddy took her in to get it removed!
I sent pictures to Aunt Erin to see if she thought it was bad enough to go in. She immediately said Yes!
A few days later playing crazy with his cousin. He didn't let a few staples slow him down!
Getting ready for them to come out:
It took a few of us to hold him down. First Mom attempted, but then it took the Dad & Nana tag team, but they finally were out!
Aunt Erin's next picture sent!
All better!
