Gotta Go Back, Back, Back, Back to School Again!

Last Thursday JP started 2nd Grade!  This title is actually a song from the movie Grease II.  It always runs through my head as we get ready for a new school year. :) He was ready and I was happy that he was excited to go back.  It means earlier mornings for he and I, but routine is good and I'll get back to being able to get a few things done before getting the trio out of their cribs each day.

We had met his teacher, Mrs. Smith, the week before and got a sneak peek at his classroom.  I went ahead and drove him to school on the 1st day and then he rode the bus home.  By day 2 he was back in the bus routine no problem.  Such a big kid!  He splits the day between his homeroom teacher for literacy in the morning, has one of his specials (PE, art, drama, music, library), eats lunch, recess and then goes to a different teacher in the afternoon for math and science.

This morning, Madison looked around and said to me in a full big girl sentence "Where did JP go to?"  They still love going to meet him when he gets off the bus and have to show me every picture of a bus they can find in their books.

Ready for 2nd grade!  New shoes: check, Backpack: check, Lego Watch: check, Silly Bands: check

Back to school tradition:  A welcome home balloon and treat.  This year I made him a giant sugar cookie.  Didn't really know what I was doing, but it turned out pretty good!

Our big kid!
