JP's Action Packed Summer

I think it is safe to say JP had a pretty good summer break.  He finished the last of his swimming lessons on Thursday, his last golf lesson today and then has one more big trip with his Dad to Massachusetts before starting school on the 19th.  He didn't do any all-day camps this year, but did several different activities he loved.  After he started out the summer with our big trip to SC & FL, he kept busy with swimming, golf, tennis, morning art camp and continued with karate.

His biggest improvement has come with swimming.  Last year, we were lucky to get him to do bobs under the water.  He had never been a big fan of getting his head wet.  But after swimming in his cousin's pool in Florida, we can't keep him off the diving board.  He is getting so much better with his swimming strokes too.  He is liking it so much that I think he is going to continue with indoor lessons in the fall.  I have tried to explain to him that once the trio gets older he will only be able to do one activity at a time since he is still in karate.  It will just be too expensive with four at once.  But since we feel this is such an important skill to have, we'll let him do two for now.

He overall is doing great and is excited to start second grade.  I only have one concern that we are going to have to watch.  We did a follow up with the ear doctor and he said that one of JP's tubes has fallen back into his ear and is not working.  He said there is no fluid, but the ear is a little irritated.  We are already starting to notice his hearing to be not as good as normal.  The doctor said he probably wouldn't put in another tube at this point, but watch it and possibly do a hearing test in about 2 months.  I scheduled the next appointment for early September because I don't want him to get very far into the school year without having it checked.  Hopefully it won't amount to anything too serious.
