A Day in Golden

Last Saturday, we spent the day in Golden. We made a deal with Ryan that if he could stay on "Easy Street" (best behavior), all week at school then we would go see the trains at the Colorado Train Museum.  He had really wanted to see Thomas the Train there a few weeks ago, but since we are a BFOB (big family on a budget) it was much cheaper ($30 vs. $108) to enjoy the museum without the big blue train.  We've been to the Thomas event when JP was little and I have to say, it was so much more fun to check out all the trains without as big of crowds.  The kids had a blast running from train to train.  We even got to ride the Galloping Grey Goose train around the museum.

This boy was in heaven.

Two cuties

They just ran from train to train.

Our ride for the day: The Galloping Grey Goose (an old mountain mail train)

After a couple hours we headed over to downtown Golden and ate lunch at Bob's Atomic Burgers.  We had to laugh when JP's order arrived.  You mark what you would like on a paper bag and take it up to the counter.  When JP's meal arrived we realized that we should have paid closer attention to what he was getting.  A double burger arrived with every available topping.  The plus side was he got two meals out of it!

We finished our day with a tour of Coors Brewery. The tour itself wasn't anything that spectacular, but the kids liked the bus ride over to the factory and knowing they would get their first taste of root beer at the end!

Outside the factory:

Ryan thought the tour was a little smelly. :)

A great end to a fun day!
